CLASS OF 2008 SAFE NIGHT PLANNING UNDERWAYGraduation night for Forks High School seniors is once again being planned as an evening filled with activities to keep exuberant grads safe and supervised.Parents of senior class students have been hosting the all-night celebration in Forks for over 24 years. Over 50 parents of 2008 graduates have met to plan and implement the all-night event, which will include music, dancing, games and activities, concluding with a breakfast. The parents fundraising goal is $15,000 to $20,000, to be spent on the event and prizes for the graduates, a similar goal to those of past years. Some of the fundraisers include: Orders for firewood are being taken at $150 per cord, with delivery in the Forks area. Contact Dave Ness at 374-2677. Spartan Blankets, acrylic knit 55 x 63, are available for $45 and can be personalized for an additional $5. Call Lisa Campbell to order, 374-2407. Spartan parent/grandparent/aunt, etc. sweatshirts are back by popular demand. These are high quality crew and hoodie sweatshirts personalized with blue and gold graduation caps, years and name of the graduates. Auction drawing tickets are available for $1 each for a wide array of items, including firewood, dinners, specialty baskets, quilts and more. Drawings are scheduled to be held at the annual Quillayute Valley Scholarship Auction set for March. Tickets are available from any senior parent. For info call Diane Schostak at 374-2501. In addition to these fundraising activities, supporters are encouraged to save receipts from Forks Outfitters, watch for bake sales and hamburger cookouts and support food sales at the scholarship auction. The 2008 Forks Senior Parents committee is co-chaired by Tony Dias, Tami Shaner and Lillian Ford, with Sue Keilman serving as secretary and Marsha Cline as treasurer. Senior Safe Night is open to all seniors meeting specific graduation criteria who are attending the Quileute Tribal School, Forks High School, Forks Alternative School, Running Start and Home School Plus. |
