'TWILIGHT' FILMMAKERS REQUEST USE OF FORKS' LOGOFictitious Forks Police Chief Charlie Swan is a key character in the Forks-set, national best-selling Twilight book series.Permission to use the real-life logos that would appear on Swans sleeve and on his car are being requested by Santa Monica, Ca.-based filmmakers now in production in Portland on a screen version of the book Twilight. A fax sent to the city on Jan. 23 reads: Twilight Productions, LLC is requesting permission to use the City of Forks Police Department and Clallam County Sheriff logo/insignias on uniforms, vehicles and/or other items as wardrobe, props and/or set dressing in our upcoming motion picture, Twilight. A request was also made to use the City of Forks logo. The Forks City Council approved the use of the Forks logos at their meeting held Monday, Jan. 28. City Treasurer Dan Leinan said use of the logo will help promote Forks to fans of the book and film. Theyll see the logo and want to visit, he said. Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke traveled to LaPush on Wednesday, Jan. 23 to plan scenes to be filmed at First Beach. She said principal actors will be coming to the West End for the LaPush filming. Second unit filming of background shots of various locations in Forks is also planned, she said.
