Small tsunami-generated waves hit coast

First Beach at LaPush at about 9 a.m. on Friday morning, March 11 showed little signs of tsunami-generated waves. The National Weather Service reported waves of about 1.5 feet struck the coast at LaPush earlier in the morning with additional small waves expected later in the morning. Bright safety lights located on Akalat - James Island (background) were still on during the morning

In Southwest Washington Highway 101 was closed in the Long Beach area as a precaution.
