Jordan Goakey of Forks on Saturday, Aug. 6 looks over the decorated paper bags with candles inside known as luminaries placed around the Spartan Stadium track in memory of those who have lost the battle with cancer, as well as in honor of cancer survivors. On Friday evening, Aug. 5 the candles were lit at the American Cancer Society’s annual Relay for Life event as somber reminders of local residents, aided by family and friends, who have battled cancer.
