Update on the condition of FPD Officer Mike Gentry Jan. 21, 2014

According to FPD's Police Administrator Rick Bart Officer Gentry is sitting up in bed this afternoon in the hospital in Seattle.  Unfortunately he will be undergoing at least two more surgeries in the next week on his leg and then have a long recovery period.

The Forks Police Department made an arrest yesterday afternoon of the suspected DUI fugitive that Gentry was in pursuit of when his injuries occurred . Bart praised the great work by officer's Julie Goode and Todd Garcia in tracking down the suspect. Bart said "several citizens helped locate him for us." He added "There are a lot of thank you's to hand out."

Bart said "the 76 clerk was great, EMT's were fabulous, Hospital staff wonderful, all the other law enforcement agencies that responded were fantastic.  LaPush, State Patrol, Clallam County and all our guys and gals working together, it was very nice to see."

Bart is now hopeful the prosecutor will see fit to bring serious charges in the case . Bart said "the important part is Gentry is alive and will get better."
