FIS November Students of the Month

4th Grade – Keith Ashue

Keith Ashue was selected as student of the month because of his daily effort in class, consistent positive attitude and eagerness to help others. He wants others to be successful.

Keith is 9 years old and in fourth grade. He lives with his mom and dad and sister and brother. Keith likes to watch television and play games on X-Box.

On sunny days, Keith plays football with his dad. His favorite foods are spaghetti and pizza and Rainbow sherbet. When Keith grows up, he would like to be a YouTube star.

Keith’s good friend, Tristan, had a lot of good things to say about him. Keith is friendly, good to talk to and funny. Tristan added that when a person feels down, Keith cheers you up. Keith sounds like a good friend. Congratulations!

4th Grade – Mia Chavez

Mia includes everyone at recess and in class. Josue, Zoe, Layla and Kodiak are her family. Kodiak is her brother, Josue is her dad, Zoe is her mom, and Layla is her little sister. Mia is very respectful, Mia’s favorite animal is a rabbit, she has two rabbits names E.B. and Floppsy. Mia doesn’t like video games, she likes art projects and playing with her friends. Mia likes technology and library. She loves to eat fruits and vegetables. Her best friends are Jaidyn, Kyleigh, Flora and Helen. She likes pink, purple and blue. Her favorite sport is cheerleading. Mia is a great student.

5th Grade – Landin Davis

Landin Davis is a fifth-grade student in Mrs. Johansen’s homeroom. He really enjoys math class with Mrs. Johansen. Landin says he feels very confident with his math skills. He recently learned to use his fingers to create equivalent fractions and says he expects to use this strategy to help him master equivalent fractions. Landin says he also enjoyed the fraction drop game that they learned this week. The Chromebooks are also a big reason that Landin is enjoying school. He really likes playing the Math Snacks coordinate grid game. Landin plays football, baseball and basketball. He plays sports with his brother Ray and his cousin Travis. He spends a lot of time riding bikes around the neighborhood. Landin lives with his grandma Suzanne and grandpa Harrison. Landin also has a dog named Maggie. He was chosen for student of the month because he is willing to share his ideas and try new problems. He is a hard worker.

5th Grade –

Lynda Jeronimo

Lynda Jeronimo is a fifth-grade student in Mrs. Johansen’s homeroom. She enjoys using our Chromebooks at school. There are lots of fun educational games to play. She especially liked playing a fraction game in Mrs. Johansen’s math class. The goal is to compete against the computer to make whole numbers. She also enjoys learning about computer coding using Code.org. Lynda enjoys having a locker this year. She has decorated her locker with several family pictures. Her favorite class is STEM with Mr. Johansen. She says they do a lot of interesting activities like making roller coasters out of pipe insulation. At home, Lynda enjoys playing with her sister Kimberly. She also enjoys fishing with her mom Nicolasa, dad Juan, brother William and uncle Ricardo. She was chosen as student of the month because she is a hard worker. She asks great questions and always tries her best. She has many friends and is very helpful and kind.

6th Grade – Brandon Galeana

Brandon Galeana is 11 years old and the son of Tanya and Nickolas Diaz of Forks. He is a sixth-grader at Forks Intermediate School and in Ms. Kearns homeroom class. His favorite subject in school is science because it is fun and exciting! He also likes P.E. When Brandon is not at school he likes to play basketball with his brother Antonio and dad, go fishing with his uncle, jumping on his trampoline and playing fetch with his dog Zeus.

He is a fan of the Seattle Sea- hawks, NBA, and Spartan football and basketball. He is good at basketball, fishing and throwing a spiral with a football. Brandon is very committed to his family who he loves. He is a very caring young man and likes to wave to strangers and be friendly. One of his favorite things to do with his family is play board games and read. Brandon has a desire to travel. Someday he would like to visit The Grand Canyon, Australia and both sides of Niagara Falls. He feels really great when he is listening to country music. His favorite movie is “Percy Jackson,” favorite book is “The Lost Hero,” favorite TV show is “The Simpsons” and favorite food is ceviche. Brandon is a hard worker in school and a young man who shows respect to his family and others around him. We are lucky to have Brandon in our school to set a great example for others! Congratulations Brandon!

6th Grade – Amya Hampton

Amya Hampton is 11 years old and the daughter of Kerstin and Paul Hampton of Forks. She is a sixth-grader at Forks Intermediate School and in Ms. Streutker’s homeroom class. Her favorite subject in school is math because she likes to work with numbers. Other activities at FIS she enjoys are student leadership, writing, reading, and doing experiments. She likes to draw with a picture to look at and would love to see a 3-D printer and understand how it works! Amya describes herself as kind, friendly and loving.

When she is not at school, Amya likes to play sports and her favorites are volleyball, basketball and softball. She is also a Seattle Seahawks fan! Listening to music and attending kids church makes her happy and she always enjoys spending time with her family tent camping and celebrating birthdays and holidays together. Amya loves her two dogs Tyson and Tucker and has a great time playing fetch with them. When asked who she admires, Amya chose her dad because he has taught her that girls can do anything boys can do! Her favorite movie is “Star Wars,” favorite books are the Little House Series, and favorite food is mac and cheese. Amya is a kind and friendly young lady who shows respect and compassion to everyone. We have no doubt that she really can do anything the boys can do! Watch out world and watch Amya in action!
