Ocean Bowl Team raises money for trip

The Clallam Bay High School Ocean Bowl Team members set up at the Forks Forum parking lot on Saturday, April 15, to sell some amazing baked goods and crafts to help fund their trip to Corvallis, Ore., this week where they will work as volunteers at the April 20-23 National Ocean Science Bowl Competition being held at OSU.

Between the cost of two hotel rooms for four nights, dinners for each night and driving day lunches, and the as-ofyet unknown expenses for van usage, the group needed to raise $1,200.

Initially they didn’t have a spot for the bake sale in Clallam Bay but at the last minute one became available. So they set up both in Forks and Clallam Bay! At the end of the day they raised $1,003 in Forks and $1,017 in Clallam Bay!

Club advisor Beverly Mowrer said, “We are still going to be frugal on the trip — this way we will have funds for next fall to pay for our competition entry fees and maybe T-shirts for the team members; sadly we didn’t have the funds for them this year.” Photo Christi Baron
