North Shore squads square off Friday

Eight-man titans will square off along Clallam Bay on Friday night as the two 1B squads from the north shore go head to head in a grudge match.

Both coming off non-league wins, Clallam Bay and Neah Bay meet on the Bruins’ home field Friday night.

Neah Bay played a rude host to eastern Washington 8-man squad Odessa/Harrington, walloping the Titans 64-12 in a non-leaguer Friday night to run its record to 2-0.

Collin Haupt ran back a pair of kickoff returns and threw in a touchdown run, while Cody  Cummings added three rushing touchdowns for the Red Devils, who blanked the Panthers in the second half.

Clallam Bay eked out a 24-22 win over visiting Muckleshoot Friday night.

The Bruins’ attack was led by a solid ground game which saw senior backs Matt Mohr and Calvin Ritter post a pair of touchdowns each.

Mohr’s 5-yard plunge in the third quarter put the Bruins ahead for good, after a 16-14 Muckleshoot first half.

Behind a powerful front line, the Nooksack Valley Pioneers spoiled Forks’ home opener Saturday, topping the Spartans in a non-league matchup 42-14.

Quarterback Tanner Myhre led the Pioneers’ attack.

But Spartan Dmitri Sampson picked off one of his passes and returned the interception for pay dirt for the first Forks score. Brett Pederson added a long touchdown run.

Forks now travels to Toledo for a non-league game Friday. The Indians, 1-1, dropped a league game to Columbia of White Salmon, 13-14 last week.
