Buzzer beater spoils Bruins’ Homecoming

A last second heartache spoiled Clallam Bay’s Homecoming Friday night, as Tulalip Heritage used a last-second score to post a 30-28 win.

The Bruins were up 28-22 and driving for the clinching score with three minutes on the clock when they fumbled at Tulalip’s 3-yard-line.

Tulalip then shot down the field and quarterback Robert Miler Jr. hit Dante Jones on a touchdown with four ticks remaining. Jones punched in a run for the two-point conversion to give the Hawks the Northwest Football League North Division win.

Clallam Bay used a strong running game, with Matt Mohr’s 169 yards leading the way, to control the pace for most of the game.

Calvin Ritter busted off a 42-yard run as part of his 61-yard rushing night.

Clallam Bay (1-3, 2-6) plays at top-ranked Neah Bay (4-0, 7-0) this Friday.

The following week, the league’s North Division will play crossover games against the South Division.
