Spotlight on Jerry White: August 2020 Volunteer of the Month

Friends of Hoko River State Park recognize Jerry White

By Nancy Messmer

Friends of Hoko River State Park recognize Jerry White as an outstanding volunteer at Cowan Heritage Area for the month of August.

Jerry is well-known in Clallam Bay-Sekiu for continuous community service. As a member of the Lions Club since 1991, he volunteers for many projects and is always among the folks who can be counted on when help is needed.

This August, he brought his own equipment to the Cowan Heritage Area and rescued the Heritage Orchard trees from overgrown grass and weeds, as well as sprucing up the Cowan yard.

Jerry, along with his late wife Patty, was one of the first volunteers working to establish the kitchen garden at the John Cowan home in 2010. He and Patty planted vegetables and took turns watering for the summer.

Jerry is into community service for activities that need doing right away and he can be counted on for the long run, at Hoko River State Park, and all around our community.
