Through August 1, 2019, each donation made towards the bus will be matched 1:1 up to $10,000. One-hundred percent of the donation goes towards the purchase of the bus and is tax deductible.
If you could no longer travel outside the home, what would you miss the most? Perhaps shopping for your own clothes, the fantastic shakes at Sully’s, or the sound of the sea? Not being able to venture out to well-loved places has been the recent reality facing residents of Forks Hospital’s Long Term Care.
To replace the resident bus comes with a $75,000 price tag. Forks Community Hospital’s Long Term Care employees have partnered with Forks Hospital Foundation to raise the $75,000 needed to purchase the Starcraft Allstar 22 ADA Shuttle Bus that holds both seated and wheelchair-bound passengers. In years past the residents were able to go on day trips, home visits, attend weddings, funerals, and remain part of their community. The staff needed to transport the residents is already in place; all that is needed is a bus.
Since January 2018, with the help of many generous donors, bake sales, and raffle baskets, the Foundation has raised $34,836 or 46% of the needed funds. A list of donors hangs in the Spoons Café alongside individual travel wishes from the residents.
Now, with the generosity of an anonymous donor, we have hope of reaching our goal to have residents home for the holidays. Through August 1st each donation made towards the bus will be matched 1:1 up to $10,000. 100% of the donation goes towards the purchase of the bus and is tax deductible. Donations can be deposited into the Forks Foundation account at First Federal Saving and Loan, make a memo of BUS or LTC. Donations can be made in person at the Foundation Office located in Forks Community Hospital’s Administration Building.
DOUBLE YOUR IMPACT and help get residents home for the holidays.
