Washington State Patrol reported a two-vehicle accident Saturday afternoon at US Hwy 101 MP 208.

The report states a 2003 F150 pickup driven by Charles P. Diaz age 40 of Puyallup and a second vehicle, a 2012 Honda Fit, driven by Jenny Hammer, age 48 of Seattle, were eastbound on US Highway 101. WSP reports that the Diaz vehicle was passing the Hammer vehicle when it lost control on the icy roadway, spun and struck the Hammer vehicle. Both vehicles left the roadway to the south rolling into the ditch. The Diaz vehicle came to rest on its side against a tree and the Honda came to rest on its wheels.

Diaz was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured Hammer was also wearing a seatbelt and was transported to Olympic Medical Center. Both vehicles were totaled and towed by Sol Duc Towing.

WSP determined the cause of the accident was passing on icy roadway/speed and charges were Negligent Driving 2.
