They’re back… Super volunteers at work again at Hoko River State Park

Amy Cramer and Buddy Cloy are hard at work in the Cowan Heritage Area gardens and orchard. They are a vision of energy and persistence. Since they arrived, they have worked on the ten heritage apple trees, clearing around the trees, mulching them, mowing the fenced enclosures and more. Amy attacked the weeds in the picnic area with gusto and the area is now cleared of weeds and planted with flowers. When visitors and volunteers approach the Cowan gate into the farm, they are greeted by the newly weeded and cleaned Welcome Garden.

Visitors are welcome. The Cowan Heritage Area is open on Sundays in July, August, and September from 2-4 p.m. and by appointment. Volunteers are needed for watering, garden and trail maintenance. The Little Hoko Trail is open for hiking. Contact 360-963-2442 for more info or read our Facebook page (Friends of Hoko River State Park).
