Meet a Forks Firefighter

Don Whitehead joined District 1 Fire Department in 1981 after he was approached by Scott Depew, who told him that the department needed firefighters. That means Don is going on 37 years of service to our community! He said it is the pride of serving our community and the teamwork with a great bunch of men and women that means so much to him. It feels great to be part of a team that saves homes, lives of people and pets that motivates him.

Don said that he currently serves as an engine operator, or engineer, and drives the fire truck during day time calls. He voiced gratitude to his employer, Whitehead Auto, for being so supportive of him responding to calls during work hours. He also said that the department has a real need for volunteer firefighters, and hopes more young people will invest in our community in that very important role.

Chief Bill Paul said that Don is a fantastic engineer who sets the standard for what a firefighter should be. He is selfless, never says a bad word about anyone, and displays such a love for service to the community. He is an outstanding team member who makes being a part of the Forks Fire Department even better.

When you see Don out and about in Forks, or pick up a part for your vehicle from Whitehead Auto, please thank him for his selfless volunteer work for our community. If you are interested in becoming a part of this very special group of men and women who stand together to assist our community, please see Chief Paul at the Forks Fire Station.
