“Cougars as Ecological Brokers: a Review of Their Biotic Relations”, will be the topic of renowned cougar scientist and author Mark Elbroch’s March 3 Studium Generale lecture and slideshow.

PC STEM Club will co-sponsor the free, online event which will begin at 12:30 pm on Zoom. Club leaders are excited for this opportunity, emphasizing their interest in the technology scientists use to study mammals.

Ecologist, author, animal tracker, and expert on mountain lions, Elbroch has become a local favorite as a result of his abilities to communicate science to a wide audience and to engage us in crucial research, Studium Generale Coordinator, Dr. Kate Reavey said.

Elbroch is a scientist for Panthera, a global wildcat conservation organization, studying mountain lion ecology. In addition, he is an animal tracker working to preserve ancient skills, and elevate their applications in a modern world.

From Elbroch’s website: “His research has challenged everything we thought we knew about the social lives of mountain lions, as well as pushes our collective knowledge about mountain lion foraging behaviors and the ecological contributions mountain lions make to their local communities. Mark’s work has been covered by the BBC, NatGeo Wild, New York Times, National Public Radio, the Washington Post, among other sources.”
