Neah Bay grads – scholarships and plans

Elijah Buckingham: (Parents: Joshua & Lorene Buckingham) plans on joining the workforce. Elijah is the recipient of the Makah Higher Education Scholarship.

Brison Butterfield: (Parents: Jacquelynn Svec, Travis Butterfield, & Jedediah Johnson) plans on attending Peninsula College to pursue an Associate of Arts Degree. Brison is the recipient of the Makah Higher Education Scholarship.

Grace Buzzell: (Parents: Maiya Buzzell & Larry Buzzell) plans on attending Stanford University to pursue a degree in Biology. Grace is the recipient of the Stanford Fund Scholarship in the amount of $72,028, the Stanford Welcome Scholarship in the amount of $2,775, the Washington Indian Gaming Association Scholarship in the amount of $1,764 and the Makah Higher Education Scholarship.

Francesca Cervantes: (Parent: Vickie Carlson) plans on going to Peninsula College to pursue an Associate of Arts Degree. After earning her degree, she plans on joining the workforce and working for the Makah Tribe.

Captain Claplanhoo: (Parents: Stan & Alana Claplanhoo) plans on enlisting in the Army to work as a mechanic.

John Corpuz: (Parents: John Corpuz & Lillian LaChester) plans on joining the workforce.

Tobias Croy: (Parent: Erica Crittenden) plans on attending the University of Puget Sound to pursue a degree in Business and to play football. Tobias is the recipient of the Founders Award Scholarship in the amount of $14,000 per year, the Washington Indian Gaming Association Scholarship in the amount of $1,764 and the Makah Higher Education Scholarship.

Jasmine Daniels: (Parents: Joseph & Marnie Daniels) plans on attending Peninsula College to pursue an Associate of Arts Degree. She plans on pursuing a career as a Dental Assistant or Dental Hygienist in Neah Bay. Jasmine is the recipient of the Friends of Studium Generale Scholarship in the amount of $4,000, the Go Forward Scholarship in the amount of $2,000 and the Makah Higher Education Scholarship.

Emma Dulik: (Parents: Michael & Kelly Dulik) plans on attending Northwest Academy for the healing arts in the future.

Laila Greene: (Parents: Daniel & Lindsay Greene) plans on attending the University of Washington to pursue a degree in Environmental Science and Resource Management. Laila is the recipient of the Costco Diversity Scholarship in the amount of $30,951 per year, the Washington Indian Gaming Association Scholarship in the amount of $1,764 and the Makah Higher Education Scholarship.

Ruth Greene: (Parents: Dan Greene & Lawanda Greene) plans on attending Seattle Pacific University to pursue a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology. Ruth is the recipient of the Faith for the Future Scholarship in the amount of $17,550, the Visit Scholarship in the amount of $500 and the Makah Higher Education Scholarship.

Jaxson Halttunen: (Parent: Lora Halttunen) plans on attending Tulalip Trade School to pursue a certificate in carpentry. Jaxson is the recipient of the Makah Higher Education Scholarship.

Malcom Lovik: (Parents: Lars & Megan Lovik) plans on attending Washington State University to pursue a degree in Civil Engineering. Malcolm is the recipient of the University Achievement Scholarship in the amount of $4,000 per year.

Aric Lyons: (Parents: Felipa Miramontes, Joshua Richardson, Neil & Crystal Lyons) plans on enlisting in the Marines.

Anthony Martinez: (Parents: Adriene Bowechop & Chris Martinez) plans on attending the University of Notre Dame to pursue a degree in Economics. Anthony is the recipient of the Provost’s Scholarship in the amount of $5,000, the University Scholarship in the amount of $56,150, the Washington Indian Gaming Association Scholarship in the amount of $1,764 and the Makah Higher Education Scholarship.

Ruth Moss: (Parents: Robert & Cinnamon Moss) plans on attending Peninsula College and playing basketball. Ruth is the recipient of the Go Forward Scholarship in the amount of $2,000 and the Makah Higher Education Scholarship.

Audrey Pilatti: (Parents: Cora Gonzales & Robert Pilatti ) plans on attending Peninsula College to pursue a degree in Welding. She would like to work as a certified welder. Audrey is the recipient of the Makah Higher Education Scholarship.

Alexander Poulos: (Parent: Barbara Poulos) plans on attending Peninsula College to pursue a degree in Business.

Robert Richardson Jr.: (Aunt: Rebekah Monette, Grandparents: John & Elaine Richardson) plans on attending Washington State University to pursue a Bachelor of Science Degree. Robert is the recipient of the Makah Higher Education Scholarship.

Jason Roberts: (Parents: Maria Gonzales & Jason Roberts) plans on joining the workforce.

Ruby Shaw: (Parents: Jovita Shaw & Thomas Shaw) plans on attending a community college to pursue an Associate of Arts Degree.

Alexis Smith: (Parents: Jeff & Michelle Smith & Harmony Hobbs) plans on attending Washington State University to pursue a degree in Marketing. Alexis is the recipient of the University Achievement Scholarship in the amount of $4,000 per year, the New Student Fees Scholarship in the amount of $775 and the Makah Higher Education Scholarship.

Meric Soeneke: (Parents: Vernon & Sandy Soeneke) plans on going into the workforce. He wants to pursue an electrician and construction certification from Peninsula College. Meric is the recipient of the Makah Higher Education Scholarship.

Courtney Swan: (Parents:Dana DaVeiga & Randall Swan) plans on attending Westcliff University to pursue a degree in Business and to play collegiate basketball. Courtney is the recipient of the Westcliff Athletic Scholarship in the amount of $4,000 and the Makah Higher Education Scholarship.

Audrey Veliz: (Parent: Katie Wolff) plans on attending Western Washington University to pursue a degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering. She hopes to be someone worth remembering. Audrey is the recipient of the Admission Merit Award Scholarship in the amount of $2,000, the Presidential Tuition Waiver in the amount of $2,250, and the Becoming Engaged Engineering Scholarship in the amount of $6,250.

Dezmond Vitalis: (Parents: Angela Touchton & William Vitalis ) plans on attending Lineman School to work in an apprenticeship program.

Barbara Vogel: (Parents: Katrina Greene) plans on attending Peninsula College. Barbara is the recipient of the Friends of Studium Generale Scholarship in the amount of $4,000 and the Makah Higher Education Scholarship.

O’Shea Wachendorf: (Parents: Lee & Riki Wachendorf) plans on going into the workforce. He plans on going to trade school to pursue a plumbing and electrician certification.

Zoey Wachendorf: (Parents: Lee & Riki Wachendorf) plans to go into the workforce and pursue her early childhood certification.

Graciana Wakole: (Parent: Grace Ross) plans on attending Haskell Indian Nations University to pursue an Associates Degree. She plans on continuing her education at the University of Kansas School of Nursing. She plans on expanding her small baking business, “Sweet Treats by Graciana” for her community in Kansas.

Grace Wilson: (Parents: Nancy and Richard Butler and Walter B. Wilson Sr and Janet Parker) plans on attending Peninsula College to pursue a Welding Degree.

Shilaily Woodruff: (Parents: Sandi Ward & Nick Brunk & Dakwa Woodruff) plans on attending the University of Hawaii Manoa to pursue a bachelor’s degree in Business. Shilaily is the recipient of the Washington Indian Gaming Association Scholarship in the amount of $1,764.

Angelina Woods: (Parents: Jim & Maureen Woods) plans on enlisting in the Air Force and continuing her education to pursue a degree in Engineering. Angelina is the recipient of the Makah Higher Education Scholarship.

Jazzlynn Yallup: (Parents: Jordan Yallup & Edward Perez) plans on attending the University of Montana to go into the medical field. Jazzlynn is the recipient of the University of Montana Academic Achievement Scholarship in the amount of $8,000 and the Makah Higher Education Scholarship.
