CCFD#1 and local EMS offer rescue help on the Sol Duc River

At about 10:24 a.m. Wednesday, July 6, a 9-1-1 call came in for help for a woman and her dog who were stuck down an embankment on the Sol Duc River near Pavel Road.

The unidentified camper had gone after her dog that had fallen down the bank, and both had ended up stuck.

After trying for a time to get up the bank and finding she was unable, the woman made contact with a fellow camper who made the call for help.

Clallam Fire District #1, Forks EMS, CCSO, Forks PD, and swift water rescue responded to the scene just off Mary Clark Road.

Forks Fire Chief Bill Paul shared that rescuers were able to pull the woman and dog to safety. The 15-year-old pup was loaded into a car and those on scene said that the dog seemed fine but was being taken to get checked out by a veterinarian.
