Community Emergency Response Training begins on Jan. 3

Community Emergency Response Training (CERT) course is starting on Wednesday, Jan. 3, at the Forks High School Commons. This CERT training will meet for eight Wednesdays from 5:30 – 8:30 p.m.

This FEMA program is a positive and realistic curriculum that provides citizens with the opportunity to learn how to safely approach emergency and disaster situations where those citizens will be initially on their own and their actions will make a difference. CERT graduates will learn about providing basic medical assistance, how to extinguish small fires, and how to perform search and rescue techniques safely.

Completing this course will also give folks the opportunity to participate in supplemental training and non-emergency projects around our communities. This is an opportunity for folks from the West Olympic Peninsula to move from awareness to real actions in emergency preparedness and response skills.
