Seeking information

All interested citizens are invited to attend the Lake Ozette Steering Committee’s discussion about the Lake Ozette Sockeye Salmon recovery project implementation. Agenda topics will include recovery project reports; public outreach and education; and future Steering Committee activities.

The next meeting will be held from 10 a.m. – 3:15 p.m. Thursday, May 9, at the Sekiu Community Center (42 Rice St.).

Over the past five years, the committee has helped develop the Lake Ozette Sockeye Salmon Recovery Plan and is now providing input for its implementation. The Steering Committee’s open membership includes landowners, interested citizens, timber companies, as well as representatives from local, state, federal, and tribal governments.

Drug prevention education

The Forks Police Department is hosting a Community Drug Education and Awareness event this Thursday, April 25, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Elks Lodge

The event will include an open dialogue regarding drug abuse. It will also serve to educate the public, including guest speakers and a display of narcotics.

File your taxes – again

Don’t forget! Property taxes are due April 30.

Clallam County Treasurer Selina Barkhuis is reminding Clallam County property owners that the first half of property taxes must be postmarked or dropped off at the Clallam County Courthouse by April 30 or your payment will be considered delinquent.

Another important note: there is no longer a drop-off box in Forks, which Barkhuis says is due to recent budget cuts.

The Treasurer’s Office accepts most credit and debit cards, either at the Treasurer’s Office or online at www.clallam.net/Treasurer. A convenience fee will be charged by the credit or debit card provided.

Questions? Call the Treasurer’s Office at 417-2344.
