Daytime closures resume at US 101 Elwha River Bridge

Drivers who use US 101 at the Elwha River are advised that daytime closures of the bridge located west of Port Angeles are scheduled on Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 10-11.

Drivers who use US 101 at the Elwha River are advised that daytime closures of the bridge located west of Port Angeles are scheduled on Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 10-11.

Exact times of the closures will depend on work progress. Crews estimate the following times:

Closures schedule

1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, Oct. 10

4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 11

Since the closure times may vary, drivers may want to consider detouring via State Route 112 and State Route 113.

The closures will allow Washington State Department of Transportation crews to move equipment between the bridge deck and the river for continued drilling operations near the bridge piers in the riverbed. Crews are continuing to evaluate the condition of the piers following erosion observed since the removal of the Elwha and Glines Canyon dams.
