In the Compound

By Elizabeth Graeme

We have been in Japan a month now and even though everyone wears a mask everywhere all the time we are out of quarantine!

Most families live in the Embassy housing compound. The compound is really fun there is a biggish playground there are three play places and there are three Apartment towers, big ones. There is Perry, Harris, and my tower is called Sirota-Gordon. She was a woman who helped the Japanese write their constitution after WWII. She made it so Japanese women could vote! Some of the towers go to the 14th floor and the elevators talk to me, it is so fun to hear but I do miss Forks…..

Our apartment is really small, and we live in the 3rd and 4th floors, all the bedrooms and bathrooms are downstairs and everything else is upstairs.

Our kitchen is the smallest room in my apartment, I can touch both sides if I stand in the middle. My room is really the cutest room I have ever had. The EWA store on the compound has American food there but it is not really big. Outside my building there is a koi pond, it is so pretty there are so many fish in the koi pond and they are very pretty some of them are clear (you can see right through them!) they are super cool.

Japan has been really fun.

There is a playground nearby with a big field, it is really fun to play. At school there is a field that is really fun but the playground has this thing called the alien, it is wonky. The playground also has a climbing wall it is really hard to climb but all of my friends can climb the wall but me to me it is really hard but I always try to climb it.

I will write about school next time!
