SAPPHO — A Neah Bay woman remained in serious condition at last report from Harborview Medical Center in Seattle after her vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree on U.S. Highway 101 east of Sappho on Wednesday.

A 2003 Mercury Mountaineer driven by Edna C. Pilatti, 18, of Neah Bay was eastbound on U.S. Highway 101 at about milepost 205 shortly after 6:20 a.m. Wednesday, according to a State Patrol collision memo.

The vehicle left the roadway, struck a highway sign, kept going and struck a tree, then came to rest on the eastbound shoulder facing the wrong way, it stated.

Pilatti was not wearing a seatbelt and was arrested for investigation of DUI, according to the memo.
