Property Tax Statements sent to Jefferson County residents

Property owners can expect to see property tax statements in their mailbox this week according to Jefferson County Treasurer Stacie Prada. Those who are enrolled in eNotices received the email on Feb. 11, 2022, at 3:49 p.m. from help@enoticesonline.com. With the subject line, “Your new/revised eNotice is available from the Jefferson County Treasurer.” Remember first installment property taxes are due April 30.

According to Jefferson County Assessor Jeff Chapman, median home assessed values in 2021 (used for 2022 taxes) rose around 10 percent from 2020. Many district budgets were held down on tax increases by statutory limitations, and for some districts, levy rates dropped. This includes the State levy which returned to being a budget-based system subject to the 1% limit. Notable tax increases are from infrastructure needs linked to the Port IDD levy and the City of Port Townsend general levy. Median values (1/1/2021) for homes ranged from $263,000 (Brinnon) to $499,000 (Marrowstone) with significant countywide value increases expected in 2022. Property taxes may be paid by mail, online, at the drop box behind the Courthouse, in the Treasurer’s Office in the Courthouse or by AutoPay.
