On Sept. 1, 2024, at approximately 1:20 a.m. a Clallam County Deputy and Forks Police Officer were dispatched to the report of gunshots in the 600 block of Nelson Road in Forks, WA. On arrival, witnesses were interviewed and physical evidence including bullet casings were located on scene.
After the interviews and initial observations were made it was determined that Jose Sanchez had been in an altercation with a female. An uninvolved man tried to check on the female during the argument. Jose fired a pistol in response to this attempted intervention.
At approximately 8 a.m. a CCSO Deputy went to the scene; they interviewed another witness, and located bullet impact points, spent bullet casings, and live rounds that matched the spent casings located near the scene.
Warrants were served on Jose Sanchez’s residence and vehicle. A spent bullet casing was found on the vehicle. The casing appeared to match the casings located at the original scene. Firearms were found in the vehicle, and several firearms were concealed in the residence.
Sanchez went to the Forks Police Department and was taken into custody without incident. Sanchez was booked into Clallam County Jail for reckless endangerment, drive-by shooting, and assault in the second degree. Sanchez has since been released on bail.
Clallam County Deputies are still investigating this incident.
