Summer readers win prizes

Kaylin Signor of Clallam Bay won the grand prize of a Netbook in the North Olympic Library System’s summer reading drawing.

Anna Wooten of Clallam Bay and Jade Raup of Forks were other West End winners in the drawing, each getting KoboArc e-readers.

Elementary school-aged children earned entry into the drawing by reading 14 hours during the 2013 Summer Reading Program.

Over 1,000 young people signed up for the summer reading program throughout the county, according to Jennifer Knight, youth services librarian. Each received a free book for participating.

More than 2,000 people attended summer programs at the library system’s four branches.

Other drawing winners were Abigail Heistand, Finnegan Devault and Sebastian LaRouge, who each won passes to Olympic National Park. Madeline Dietzman and Ella Ventura’s names also were drawn to receive the KoboArc e-readers.

Events and prizes were made possible through the generous support of the Port Angeles, Clallam Bay, Forks and Sequim Friends of the Library as well as private donations.
