Susan Lynn (Lewis) Hassinger was born and raised in Forks. Susan remembers her early years as a Forks Spartan and all of her friends. Her beginning years were down on the Hoh River at the family mini-ranch feeding the steer, chickens and Sweet Lips with her eight baby piglets.

Susan enjoyed being a Spartan athlete participating in baseball, volleyball, basketball and track & field. Upon graduating from FHS she attended the University of Washington earning a Bachelor of Arts degree, double majoring in Psychology and Society & Justice. She began her police career at Medina Police Department, then Evergreen State College Police Services and currently at the Renton Police Department. She has approximately 20 years serving in her law enforcement profession, with the majority of her career at Renton PD since 2008.

Susan’s police experiences include: Patrol Officer, Defensive Tactics Instructor, Special Operations Detective focusing on Narcotics Enforcement and Underage Sex Trafficking of Children, Officer in Charge, Undercover Detective working a range of operations from Homicide/Murder, Assault, Motor Vehicle Theft Rings, Narcotics, Prostitution, Organized Retail Theft and more, Directed Enforcement Team-Proactive Uniform Patrol, Bike Patrol, Fugitive Apprehension, Patrol Sergeant, Investigations Detective Sergeant/Commander, Crime Scene Team Supervisor, and Valley Independent Investigations Team Sergeant/Commander investigating officer Involved shootings occurring in South King County. She worked over 11 years in Special Operations, 7. 5 years in Patrol, and 2 years in Investigations. She is credited with the largest narcotics arrest in Renton PD’s history and claims that Narcotic Detective has been the highlight of her career.

Susan is the daughter of Bill and Lynn Lewis. She has two sons, Randall 18 years old and Christian 11 years old. Susan is currently the Commander of Investigations for Renton Police Department.
