WDFW to discuss coastal angling

A public meeting to discuss recreational bottomfish management measures by the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife will be Wednesday, July 24, in Montesano.

The Pacific Fishery Management Council is beginning harvest levels for the 2015-2016 management cycle.

The council will discuss measures at its meeting in September and will adopt annual catch limits for overfished species in November.

Next week’s meeting will give anglers an overview of the process the council will use to put together its management plan and will ask for changes to the Pacific Halibut Catch Sharing Plan for coastal areas for next year.
