Barbara Ray

1942-2024

Barbara E. Ray went to meet her Lord and Savior on January 8th, 2024, with loved ones beside her.

Barbara was born January 1st, 1942, in Forks, WA to Ray and Myrtle Hull. Barbara and her siblings, Rick, Beverly, Jim Hull, and Pat and Bobby Sorg were all raised in the Bear Creek area. Barb remained in Bear Creek for the remainder of her life.

She attended Beaver Grade School where she met her future husband Wayne in first grade and graduated from Forks High School. They were childhood sweethearts from fourth grade and were married on December 3rd, 1960. Wayne and Barb had three children, Janice, Beth, and Paul. Wayne joked that he always took Barb’s birthday off (New Year’s Day).

Barbara was an excellent homemaker. One of her favorite things was baking lots of pies. Her love for people showed as she opened her home to host hundreds of guests over the years. No one ever left without being offered food and beverages. Family holiday get-togethers always included invited guests that may not be near their own families.

Barbara was a member of the Forks Assembly of God for many years. Her love for children and people in general was evidenced by her 64 years of teaching Sunday School and 28 years of working as a custodian at Forks Elementary School where she cared deeply for both the kids and staff. After retirement, she and Wayne spent many weekends perusing garage sales in Port Angeles, sharing their love of Jesus and family with hundreds of people. She spent her life upholding so many in her prayers.

Barbara’s greatest joy in life was her family, and she cherished the time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Barbara is survived by her children Janice (Mike) Church, Beth (Randy) Church and Paul (Ana) Ray; grandchildren Kim (Vern) Rondeau, Christina (Raymond) Buchmann, Leanna (Tyler) Day, Whitney (Rex) Shaw; and great-grandchildren Brooklynn, Hailey and Kendon Rondeau; Brian and Blake Buchmann, Brent and Makayla Day and Frith Shaw. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Ray, brother, Rick Hull and grandson Kenneth Church.

Services will be held on March 2nd, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at the Forks Assembly of God Church.
