Joelene Wittenborn

Joelene Wittenborn, age 98, passed away peacefully at her home in Forks on Nov. 7, 2019. She was born on Jan. 14, 1921 in Bismarck, North Dakota to Justin (Pop) Goodwin and Clara Dieubel Goodwin.

At the age of six, she moved with her parents to the Sappho/Beaver area. Joelene graduated from Quillayute Union High School in 1939 and went on to attend college for two years.

She married Ernest Wittenborn on July 3, 1946. He passed on Nov. 2, 2001.

Joelene worked in food service and had a small restaurant, she then worked at Pay and Save for Russ and Helen Thomas in their grocery store and later she was the first manager of the “Coffee Shop.” After retirement, she volunteered at the Forks Food Bank for many years.

Joelene loved to cook and feed everyone who came to visit, she usually had cookies in the jar and a specialty of hers was cinnamon rolls.

Coming from a musical family she loved to dance! She was happiest when surrounded by her family and good friends.

Joelene is survived by her children; Linda (Jerry) Wools, Michelle (Joe) Anderson, Jeff (Karen) Wittenborn and son-in-law Robin Poole; nieces Thana Robinson and Teri Romero and nephew Craig Palmer. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren.

Joelene was preceded in death by her husband Ernest, daughter Jerri Poole, her parents, brother, sister and nephew, three granddaughters and one great-grandson.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, Nov. 23, 2019, at 11 a.m. at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 250 N. Blackberry Ave. A Luncheon will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Forks Food Bank, P.O. Box 763, or Forks Loggers Memorial, P.O. Box 2135.
