Longtime Forks resident, Pete Slusser, died on August 4 of natural causes. Known by many locals as “Bogie Pete”, he lived life off the grid and on his own terms.

A breeder of full-blooded Catahoula Louisiana Leopard Dogs, Pete’s parent dogs, Yank & Girlfriend, graced this area’s residents with 33 puppies over 3 litters. A true character and raconteur, Pete had few close friends but had many acquaintances who all enjoyed his company and lively stories of life in San Diego, New Orleans and rural Forks.

He leaves behind two sisters, a son and a daughter, three grandchildren, two dogs, some goats and many cats. He will be missed. A celebration of life might be announced at a later date.
