On May 27-28 the Forks Spartans girls fastpitch team traveled to Chehalis and played in the Memorial Day Bash at Recreation Park. The girls moved up a level in competition, playing older more experienced teams and held their own.

On Saturday pool play they won 1 and lost 2 in three very close games. On Sunday double elimination bracket play the Lady Spartans battled in upper 80-degree temperatures four games in a row and finished with 2 wins and 2 losses for a third-place finish.

The girls played very tough and showed a lot of heart, fighting through the heat and winning some close games against some tough teams. The Spartans are now 11 wins 5 losses and one tie on the season.

A big thank you to team sponsors, the Soroptimists Club, The Elks Club, The Lions Club, Forks Outfitters, West End Youth League, Lake Pleasant Grocery and Dilley and Soloman Logging for your generous donations to help make this travel team possible. The next tournament is the State Championships in Olympia from June 17-18.
