Forks High School Football Throwback 1926-1969

The “introduction to football” at Quillayute Union High School took place in the fall of 1926, and proved to be a “source of keen enjoyment and several hard knocks!” The games were played with teams within the school and more than once flashes of real football were to be seen, but no equipment was seen.

By the fall of 1929 Forks Football players still didn’t have any equipment, but that didn’t stop them from playing a few scrimmages.

By the fall of 1940 Forks football players had real uniforms with numbers and they had some pretty good teams. Many of these guys would, a year later, be going off to fight in WWII.

By 1955 they were the Spartans and were looking sharp for this photo, helmets on!

This team photo from 1969 was the first group football photo of the Forks Spartans to appear in the Forks Forum.
