1st: Rio Jaime & Deano Penn
2nd: Floyd McCoy & Dalton Kilmer
3rd: Frank Bonds & Mike Estrada
Saturday morning on July 5th came pretty early for some of the usual horseshoe pitchers, resulting in a smaller turnout. Just 26 players were on time for the draw and the tournament began at 9:00 am in Tillicum Park in Forks.
The weather was perfect and the pits were too thanks to the City of Forks work crews, although one of the older backstops will need attention before next year.
In the winners bracket the undefeated team of Rio Jaime and Deano Penn won all three of their matches.
The final two teams in the losers bracket were both victims of Rio and Deano, meaning whoever won would get a rematch with them.
Floyd McCoy and Dalton Kilmer, champions in three of the last four years, outscored Frank Bonds and Mike Estrada to end that side of the bracket and attempt to avenge their earlier loss.
In the final game, Rio and Deano were just too much, though, and pulled out their first championship with an undefeated record of 4-0.
Congrats to the champs and we hope to see you all next year.
