Spartans crush Mountaineers

Forks topped league doormat Rainier in a crusher match at home last Thursday, Sept. 19.

 

The Spartans cruised to a 25-12, 25-17, 25-20 win over the winless Mountaineers in the SWL-Evergreen tilt.

 

Forks sat in third place in league standings after the week’s play with a 1-1 league record, 2-1 overall.

 

The squad was slated to play at winless Tenino on Tuesday before hosting undefeated Montesano, who sat in a tie with Hoquiam atop the league standings, tonight, Thursday, with junior varsity play beginning at 5:45 p.m.

 

Clallam Bay, meanwhile took a thumping from visiting Quilcene, falling in straight sets 21-25, 20-25, 4-25.

 

Katie Bailey put down 20 serves in a row in the third game crusher for Quilcene.

 

The Bruins were slated to host Wishkah on Tuesday night and the Port Angeles C team next Monday before beginning league play in October.
