A Home Made Christmas

By Elizabeth Graeme

This year I am making all the decorations for our Christmas tree by hand myself. I have always wanted to be in charge of Christmas decorating and this year my Mommy and Daddy granted my wish. I really like the homemade decorations because they are fun to make and fun to look at!

The first thing I did was go to Chinook Pharmacy to get all the craft supplies I would need to make everything. Picking out the colors was super fun. First I made popcorn strings, I may have eaten a lot of the popcorn meant for the tree, but that’s only fair since I did the work, right? That one is easy, just string a needle and thread and poke it through a piece of plain popcorn. I only made a few strings, I had my assistant (daddy) do most of them. I also made some paper chains, those are easy, just staple rings of paper together. My other assistant (mommy) did most of those. I also made ornaments from felt, paint, popsicle sticks, paint, and glue. I liked the elf I made in Mrs. Echeida’s class the best because it was the cutest. It sits at the top of the tree just below the star.

I do like the store-bought crafts and decorations and the ones that have been in my family for generations, but making your own is really cool! You should make some too! I made the star on top of the tree out of popsicle sticks, gems and glitter and tied it to the top of the tree, it looks awesome! Home-made decorations are the best because they have more love.
