A Look Back …This week in the Forks Forum

This week in 2000 about 150 people had attended the ICN Workshop, starting the process for a “wired” West End (photo). The Community Orchestra had provided entertainment during the lunch break at the ICN Workshop (photo). The Rainforest Arts Center was getting the very first elevator in Forks.

This week in 1953 the Hoh Tribe had met to reorganize its Tribal Council. William Penn had been elected as temporary Chairman; tribal council members elect included Scott Fisher, Herbert Fisher, Theodore Hudson Jr., Jonah Cole, and Rex Ward. One topic for discussion was a road that would run directly to the Reservation. Many had reported seeing a new B-52 bomber that had flown over Forks.

This week in 1934 construction of the new American Legion Hall had begun with the foundation being poured. It was expected it would be completed by June 2 in time for the first dance. One-hundred and seven CCC members had left Snider Camp for a new camp at Lake Chelan. It was hoped another crew would replace them. In business ads, Ruel and Hammer had electric toasters for $1.55. In personals Mr. and Mrs. Eric Danielson and children had motored to Port Angeles.
