A Look Back …This week in the Forks Forum

This week in 2000, Senator Slade Gorton had met with a large crowd at the Vagabond. Kelsey Breedlove and a bunch of other Forks kids were trying their hand at T-Ball (photo). Ex-Seattle Mariner, Lenny Randle, was planning a visit to Forks to offer a baseball clinic for boys and girls ages 7-18. Joyce Poole had offered a speech at the Memorial Day Ceremony held at City Hall (photo).

So…this week in 1968, it was reported that 1966 FHS grad Norm Lodholm had completed training and was now in Vietnam … sadly, he died a few days later on June 13, 1968 (photo). Wiley Duncan had been installed as the newest president of the Forks Lions Club. Twenty-four FHS grads had received scholarships from the Quillayute Valley Scholarship Fund. The West End Pioneer Club had met and heard about early settlers – the Whittiers, Fords, and Merchant families.

This week in 1953, the 4th of July committee was seeking sponsors for Queen candidates. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Sharpes had welcomed a son at the Olympic Clinic, his name was Billy. Mrs. Anderson and Mrs. Spaulding had crashed into each other at the intersection of 2nd Avenue and C. St. SW; State Patrolman Boyd Rupp had investigated the accident.
