A look at the many new features available on the Forks Chamber of Commerce’s updated website (www.forkswa.comwas presented on Wednesday, Nov. 21 at the Chamber’s weekly luncheon meeting.

Providing an online look at the website were its keepers: Chamber Tourism and Marketing Director Lissy Andros and Chamber Webmaster Susie Michaels.

Operation of, and control of content, for the Chamber website is now in-house, allowing for rapid updates and changes. The online platform for www.forkswa.com is now Word Press.

Links on the website go to special sections that located on dedicated web pages within the Chamber site. They include sections on lodging, shopping (both brick and mortar stores and local online shopping sites), local recreation and adventure, a link to what Andros said was one of the webisite’s most popular pages – a list of local webcams with a live link to webcams located overlooking First Beach, the Sol Duc River and other local sites.

Michaels demonstrated the wide range of web site statistics available through the Google Analytics service. She showed a live look at how many persons were online reading the website, and what town or city they were located in. Several of the dozen or so users highlighted were located in Europe.

Andros said future plans include placing large flat screen monitors inside the Chamber’s Visitor Information Center. Slide shows of scenic local sites would be featured on the screens. One screen may just have live images from West End webcams.

The Chamber is inviting community organizations to link to the new website and to provide up-to-date community information for the community listings and events calendar located at www.forkswa.com.
