Brick by brick, the Soroptimists International of the Olympic Rainforest are sprucing up the entry to Forks High School and trying to raise funds to support the school’s music program.

Bricks were laid last week in front of the school’s main entrance, with 306 of them bearing the names of supporters who purchased their own bricks over the last 2½ years.

At $40 a pop, bricks bearing long-time Forks-area names have been laid beside those from Twilight fan clubs and local organizations.

Soroptimist Diane Edwards said the bricks already have generated more than $4,000 the club has donated to the school’s burgeoning music program.

The top two rows of bricks were purchased with the names of the Class of 2012, the first to graduate from the new high school.

Cathy Johnson said the Forks 10U softball team, which won state and regional championships last month, soon will have a brick laid in their honor.

Bricks still are available. For more information, consult the school district’s website and click on the “brick,” contact the district office at 374-6262 or any Soroptimist.

Edwards said club members also will be available to purchase bricks at home football games this fall.
