FORKS — A driver falling asleep at the wheel led to two Forks residents being sent to the Forks Community Hospital early Sunday morning, according to the State Patrol.

Driver Kenneth T. Crowder, 34, and passenger Heather A. Waldron, 42, were sent to the hospital after the wreck at 5:15 a.m. Sunday.

The car driven by Crowder was traveling westbound on U.S. Highway 101 when it crossed over the center line at milepost 205, left the roadway and crashed into a tree.

The State Patrol cited Crowder with second-degree negligent driving, failure to wear a seat belt and operating a motor vehicle without a license.

Waldron also was not wearing a seat belt, troopers said in a memo.

Neither drugs nor alcohol were involved in the wreck, the memo said.

The car, a 2004 Honda Pilot, was completely destroyed, the State Patrol said.
