Tyler Dwaine Ness

Tyler Dwaine Ness, 33, passed away on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, while working in the woods he loved so dearly. A dedicated logger for most of his life, Tyler lost his life in a tragic accident on the job.

Born on May 4, 1992, to David Ness and Lesa Armas at the Olympic Memorial Hospital in Port Angeles, WA. Tyler grew up surrounded by the rugged beauty of the Pacific Northwest. From a young age, he developed a passion for the outdoors, which led him to pursue a career in logging – a demanding and often dangerous profession that he embraced with courage and commitment.

Whether Tyler was casting a line at sunrise or after work or tracking game through the autumn woods, he found a sense of joy that could only come from nature. Though his legacy will live on, visiting around bonfires, fishing on riverbanks or walking through the forest, it will feel just a little quieter. Though he laid down his last rod and rifle for the last time, he will live on through everyone’s memories, stories, and hearts.

But perhaps one of the most cherished traditions was every spring, Tyler would plant a garden with his Grandma Liz. Together they turned soil, planted seeds and plants with hope. Those moments rich with laughter, love and casual conversations remain a lasting legacy of his gentle spirit and deep appreciation for life’s simple gifts.

In 2019, Tyler started dating the love of his life, Jolene Callis. Tyler was a wonderful bonus dad to Jolene’s twin daughters, Kinley and Kylie. On July 10, 2020, they welcomed their daughter, Aspyn Selene Ness, who was the light of Tyler’s life.

His family was his pride and joy, and he instilled in his girls the values of hard work, integrity, and compassion. Jolene will forever remember him as an amazing dad and for how hard he loved, and his girls will always cherish the countless memories they shared together. Tyler lived a life marked by quiet strength, unwavering love, and selfless dedication to his family. As a boyfriend, he was the definition of loyalty and tenderness, always putting the needs of his loved ones before his own. His relationship with Jolene was rooted in deep respect and unconditional love – a bond that inspired those around him.

But it was in his role as a father to his precious daughter, Aspyn, that Tyler shone the brightest. From the first time he held her in his arms, she became the light of his life. Whether it was following her on her scooter or bike to the park or playground, reading her a story, or just holding her hand through life’s little challenges, he was present for every moment. His love for her was boundless, and his greatest joy was watching her smile.

Tyler’s passion for sports led him to volunteer as an umpire for the West End Youth League and Babe Ruth baseball.

A memorial service will be held at the Ki’tla Center, 100 LaPush Road in Forks, WA, followed by a continued family-friendly event at the Slug Farm also on the LaPush Road.

Tyler will forever be missed by the love of his life, Jolene, daughter Aspyn, and bonus daughters Kinley and Kylie. Reed and Minde Callis were also a big part of Tyler’s life.
