DOT to pave Calawah River bridge

Both before and after Labor Day, Washington State Department of Transportation maintenance crews will reduce U.S. Highway 101 to one lane across the Calawah River bridge in Forks while they work to resurface the deck.

From 7 a.m.-4 p.m. each day from Monday-Thursday, Aug. 26-29, flaggers will reduce Highway 101 to one-way, alternating traffic across the bridge. During the closures, crews will remove guardrail in preparation for paving.

No road closures are scheduled over Labor Day Weekend, Friday, Aug. 30, and Tuesday, Sept. 3.

Crews return Wednesday, Sept. 4, to resurface the deck.

From 7 a.m.-6:30 p.m. each day through Thursday, Sept. 12, crews will once again reduce Highway 101 to one-way, alternating traffic at the bridge while paving activities are under way.

The resurfacing project is intended to provide a smoother ride for motorists and preserve the bridge structure.
