Students who are part of the University of Copenhagen’s School of Forestry and Landscape Engineering, on an International study tour were in our area last week. They arrived on Oct. 4 in Seattle, toured the School of Environmental and Forest Sciences on the main University of Washington campus, then they came out to the West End on the weekend to visit salmon and forest sites.

Both David Hahn, citizen for the North Pacific Coast Lead Entity for Salmon Restoration and Jill Silver, Executive Director for 10,000 Years Institute and Olympic National Forest Collaborative member presented in the field on past, current, and future natural resource concerns with onsite examples of salmon restoration efforts at Eagle Creek Springs and the H-Z USFS/ Collaborative project.

The group is traveling on to the H.J. Andrew’s Experimental Forest in Oregon, then back to the UW’s Pack Forest for a few days before returning back to Denmark. Each student was responsible for earning the dollars needed for the trip. The students ranged from age 22-55. They very much enjoyed the area and said they felt at home in our autumn weather.
