Lots of weeding to do, but still smiling.
Thumbs up on getting outside thanks to the Bogachiel Garden Club and others.

Lisa Joynes’s 2nd-grade class at Forks Elementary has been busy getting raised beds weeded in the school garden to prepare them for planting. Joynes received a scholarship from the Bogachiel Garden Club to purchase gardening gloves and tools for the students.

Joynes shared some pictures of her class from their gardening day last Friday. “You can see how thrilled the kids were and such hard workers! Thank you for sharing these in the paper,” Joynes said.

In addition to the BGC scholarship, the school is offering more funding for additional soil, and the PTO volunteered to help purchase seeds or plants as well. Joynes added, “We were able to purchase the raised beds kits and composters with a grant a couple of years ago.”
