A non-injury collision Wednesday morning blocked both lanes of U.S. Highway 101 near Cooper Ranch Road after a trailer came loose from a log truck, according to the Washington State Patrol.
Troopers said the crash occurred at about 10:46 a.m. when a northbound log truck driven by Vallenar C. Huckins, 55, of Port Hadlock, attempted to turn right from Cooper Ranch Road onto U.S. 101. The truck’s trailer disconnected and was struck by a westbound 2025 Ford F-350 driven by Jonah Gray, 40, of Port Angeles.
Both vehicles came to rest fully blocking the roadway. No injuries were reported, though the Ford pickup was totaled and both vehicles had to be towed from the scene.
Huckins was cited for negligent driving in the second degree, with the cause of the crash listed as an unsecured trailer. Alcohol or drugs were not involved, troopers said.
Traffic in the area was delayed while crews worked to clear the roadway.
