Forks Middle School Students of the Month

Students in grades 5th through 8th were recognized for their achievements and character as February Students of the Month at Forks Middle School.
Eighth Grade: Cody Gaydeski
Cody Gaydeski was selected as the February Student of the Month for eighth grade. His favorite things include pasta, the color green, CTE class, making pasta, and bears. Cody hopes to become a cook or a carpenter in the future.
Teachers praised Cody for his strong character and work ethic. His CTE teacher, Mr. Feasel, said Cody represents the core ideals of Forks Middle School—being respectful, responsible, and safe—while consistently serving as a positive role model. He added that Cody is a dedicated learner who takes pride in his work and demonstrates a positive attitude that will lead to future success.
Mr. Burton, Cody’s ELA teacher, noted that Cody is attentive in class, follows directions carefully, and is not afraid to ask questions. He is respectful to both peers and adults and is often among the first to complete assignments, consistently finishing all of his work. In physical education, Mrs. Highfield said Cody shows respect toward others, remains focused, and actively participates in all activities.
Cody expressed thanks to Jesus for his support.
Seventh Grade: Ka’Tarra-Lee Jackson
Ka’Tarra-Lee Jackson was named the February Student of the Month for seventh grade. Her favorites include fries, the color baby blue, ELA, volleyball, and baby chicks.
Her teachers describe her as a kind and hardworking student who brings positivity to those around her. Mrs. Johanson, her ELA teacher, said Ka’Tarra is upbeat, always smiling, and a friend to everyone, often helping classmates who are struggling. Mrs. Highfield added that she is respectful and consistently strives to do her best.
Miss Gingrich, her social studies teacher, called Ka’Tarra a natural leader who goes above and beyond expectations, while Dr. Whitehead, her math teacher, praised her ability to balance strong peer relationships with high-quality academic work. Adding that she is polite, positive, and has a bright future ahead.
Ka’Tarra thanked her mom, auntie, and friends for their support.
Sixth Grade: Eva Newman
Eva Newman was chosen as the February Student of the Month for sixth grade. Her interests include pasta—especially fettuccine alfredo—the color navy blue, ELA, writing, drawing, volleyball, and dogs, particularly German shepherds and rottweilers. She hopes to become a veterinarian.
Teachers highlighted Eva’s growth, strong work ethic, and positive attitude. Mrs. Echeita, her social studies teacher, said Eva has shown tremendous growth as a learner, producing thoughtful work and demonstrating empathy and respect beyond her years. She described Eva as a role model both academically and behaviorally.
Mrs. Klebe, her ELA teacher, said Eva—also known as “Skip”—is a model student who stays organized, turns in assignments on time, and puts in consistent effort. She also noted Eva’s positive energy and sense of humor, which help create a welcoming classroom environment. Mrs. Highfield added that Eva stays focused, completes tasks to the best of her ability, and works well with others.
Eva thanked her friends Sneha, Reagan, Hayden, and Callie, along with her volleyball coaches Halie and Sam, and gave special thanks to her parents for their support.
Fifth Grade: Hazel Gorbett
Hazel Gorbett was selected as the February Student of the Month for fifth grade. Her favorite things include burgers, the color blue, math, sticker doodle, and snow leopards. She is considering becoming a business owner in the future.
Hazel’s teachers commended her kindness, reliability, and dedication. Mrs. Murillo, her band and music teacher, described her as a hardworking and considerate student who is always willing to help others. Mrs. Camacho-Carver, her social studies teacher, said Hazel is patient, kind, and dependable, with a fun sense of humor.
Mrs. Highfield noted Hazel’s focus and ability to work well both independently and in groups, adding that kindness and respect are defining traits. Mrs. Streutker, her math teacher, said Hazel is consistently focused, willing to work hard, and eager to improve, even asking to redo assignments when she is not satisfied with her performance.
