A Forks resident is helping bring humor, satire, and lively musical performances to the stage this spring as Urinetown: The Musical opens at Olympic Theatre Arts in Sequim.

Forks’ own Marni Ann Whitehead is part of the ensemble cast in the award-winning musical comedy, which runs from May 22 through June 14. Performances are scheduled for Fridays and Saturdays at 7 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m.

Set in a Gotham-like future, Urinetown imagines a society facing a severe water shortage after a 20-year drought. Citizens are forbidden from owning private toilets and instead must pay to use public facilities controlled by a powerful corporation profiting from one of life’s most basic necessities. The story follows an unlikely hero who challenges the system and sparks a revolution in pursuit of freedom.

Known for its sharp humor, catchy musical numbers, and satirical take on politics and social issues, Urinetown has become a favorite among theater audiences for its unconventional storyline and energetic performances.

Tickets range from $15 to $25 and may be purchased online through Olympic Theatre Arts or by calling the box office during operating hours, Tuesday through Friday from 1–4 p.m.
