The Board of Clallam County Commissioners announces openings on Advisory Boards and Committees. Specific categories are noted where applicable.
ANIMAL SOLUTIONS ADVISORY COMMITTEE (20)
The purpose of the Animal Solutions Advisory Committee shall be to advise the Board of County Commissioners and to provide advice and support to the Sheriff’s Office regarding animal control management in Clallam County. The further purpose of the Committee will be to provide a regular forum for exchanging information, sharing resources, highlighting emergency concerns and recommending key community strategies to better support county residents and their companion animals. There are openings for representatives City of Forks, City of Forks Alternate, Clallam County Animal Control Officer Alternate, City of Port Angeles Animal Control Officer, City of Port Angeles Animal Control Officer Alternate, Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe, Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe Alternate, Lower Elwha Tribe, Lower Elwha Tribe Alternate, Makah Tribe, Makah Tribe Alterante, Quileute Tribe, Quileute Tribe Alternate, Veterinarian Alternate, Olympic Peninsula Humane Society Alternate, Friends of Forks Animals, Friends of Forks Animals Alternate, Clallam County equine rescue organization; Clallam County equine rescue organization Alternate; and Animal rescue organization that accommodates animals other than dogs, cats and horses Alternate.
BEHAVIORAL HEALTH ADVISORY BOARD (4)
Established to act to advise the Board of Commissioners on implementation and future funding, from the 1/10 of 1 percent sales tax authorized by RCW 82.14.460. There are openings for representatives of Tribal; DCYFS Department of Children, Youth and Family Services; Private provider of substance use disorders services not contracting for funding; and Services for Homeless.
BOARD OF HEALTH (3)
Responsible for all matters pertaining to the preservation of the life and health of the citizens of Clallam County, including community health assessment, health status, preventable health risks, availability of resources; enacting rules, regulations, and policies to preserve, promote, and improve the health status of Clallam County residents; assure high quality and effective public health services including control and prevention of any dangerous, contagious, or infectious diseases; prevention, control, and abatement of nuisances detrimental to public health; enforce public health statutes of the state and county; establish fee schedules for issuing and renewing licenses and permits or for other services authorized by the law and rules of the Washington State Board of Health. There are openings for a representative One Consumer of Public Health; Makah Tribe; and Quileute Tribe.
BUILDING CODE BOARD OF APPEALS (7)
Hears and decides appeals of orders, decisions, or determinations made by the Building Official relative to the application and interpretation of the codes adopted in Clallam County Code 21.01, Building and Construction Code. There are openings for representatives of (2) Alternate; Architect; Civil or Structural Engineer; General Contractor; ICC Certified Fire Marshal, Fire Inspector, or Fire Plan Examiner; and ICC Certified Building Official, Building Inspector, or Plans Examiner.
CLALLAM BAY/SEKIU COMMUNITY ADVISORY COMMITTEE (4)
Assists in gathering and analyzing information, making recommendations, and advancing the orderly growth and development of the area. There are openings for representatives of Clallam Bay School; and (3) At-large.
CLALLAM BAY/SEKIU SEWER ADVISORY COMMITTEE (1)
Responsible for gathering accurate information regarding Clallam Bay-Sekiu sewer operations, rates and billing procedures, and making recommendations to the Board of Commissioners. There is an opening for (1) committee member.
CRESCENT COMMUNITY ADVISORY COUNCIL (2)
This committee acts as a liaison between the citizens living in the Crescent School District area and the Board of Commissioners on issues that may include land use, economic development, transportation and pedestrian improvements, capital projects and services, and community projects and activities. There are openings for representatives of Grange and Crescent School District Student Body.
HERITAGE ADVISORY BOARD (2)
The Board is responsible for advising the Clallam County Commissioners on various matters related to the preservation of the cultural heritage of the County. There are openings for representatives of (2) District II.
HOMELESSNESS TASK FORCE (22)
Commissioners on various matters related to the issues regarding homelessness in Clallam County. There are openings for representatives of Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe; Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe Alternate; Makah Tribe; Makah Tribe Alternate; Quileute Tribe; Quileute Tribe Alternate; Healthcare providers; Healthcare providers Alternate; Mental health/substance use providers Alternate; Domestic Violence/Sexual Assault Providers – Alternate; Department of Social and Health Services; Department of Social and Health Services Alternate; West End Service Providers Alternate; Serenity House Alternate; Olympic Community Action Programs Alternate; Law and Justice System Alternate; Faith Community Alternate; Business Community Alternate; (2) Homeless or formerly homeless Alternates; At-large Alternate; and Advocate for Youth Issues Alternate .
HOUSING SOLUTIONS COMMITTEE (1)
The Clallam County Board of Commissioners recognize the need to find innovative housing solutions in Clallam County. On March 15, 2022 the Board of County Commissioners established a Housing Solutions Committee under Resolution 32, 2022. The committee shall be responsible for developing programs to promote housing solutions in Clallam County. The committee will also make recommendations to the Board of Clallam County Commissioners and the Opportunity Fund Board for expenditures of 1406 funds, American Rescue Plan Act funding related to housing solutions, Opportunity Fund infrastructure for housing and other funds that can be used for affordable housing. There is an opening for a representative of Tribal Governments.
LAKE SUTHERLAND STEERING COMMITTEE (3)
The Lake Sutherland Steering Committee is comprised of property owners within the district who reflect various lake use interests and geographic distribution within the Lake Sutherland Management District. There are openings for (3) committee members.
LODGING TAX ADVISORY COMMITTEE (1)
Statute requires an advisory committee to review all proposed changes to expenditures from the Hotel/Motel Tax Fund and to make recommendations to the Board of Commissioners. There are openings for Collector of the tax.
MARINE RESOURCES COMMITTEE (7)
The Marine Resource Committee advises the County Commissioners regarding issues related to the marine resources of the Strait of Juan de Fuca and its bays, estuaries, and inlets within the borders of Clallam County. There are openings for representatives of Makah Tribe; Makah Tribe Alternate; Marine related recreation and tourism Alternate; Conservation/Environmental Alternate; District I Alternate; District III primary; and Development Community Alternate.
NORTH PACIFIC COAST MARINE RESOURCES (1)
Assists in understanding, stewarding, and restoring the marine and estuarine ecological processes of the North Pacific coast of Washington within the boundaries of Clallam and Jefferson Counties in support of ecosystem health, sustainable marine resource-based livelihoods, cultural integrity, and coastal communities. Members represent conservation/environmental groups, recreational groups, economic groups and the scientific community. There is an opening for a Clallam County Citizen (Scientific Community).
PERMIT ADVISORY BOARD (11)
Makes recommendations to the Board of Commissioners and Director of the Department of Community Development for changes in the building code and permitting. There are openings for representatives of Architect; Building Designer; Certified Septic Designer/Installer; Engineer category (structural/civil); Economic Development Council; Environmental Consultant; (1) Homebuilders’ Association; Propane/Woodstove Contractor; Manufactured Homes/Mobile Home Association; Land Surveyor; and ex officio-Planning Manager.
PORT CRESCENT PIONEER CEMETERY (2)
The Board was established in 1974 to operate the Port Crescent Pioneer Cemetery. There are openings for (2)
committee member.
REVENUE ADVISORY COMMITTEE (3)
The Department of Natural Resources (DNR) manages over 160,000 acres of state forest lands which include 93,000 acres of State Transfer Lands that help fund services in Clallam County such as roads, libraries, fire districts, ports, hospitals and emergency management. DNR manages those certain state forest lands in trust for the benefit of Clallam County and the taxing districts within Clallam County. These beneficiaries are given most of the revenue from timber sales and other revenue-producing activities. The County finds forming the Revenue Advisory Committee would be in the best interest of the County, the benefiting taxing districts within the County, and the community. There are openings for a representative of Quillayute Valley Park & Recreation; Clallam Fire District 1 Alternate; Olympic Medical Center #2 Alternate.
SHERIFF’S CITIZENS ADVISORY COMMITTEE (4)
Advisory to the Sheriff’s Office to provide an open link of communication between the Sheriff and the community. There are openings for representatives of Clallam Bay/Sekiu; Quileute Tribe; Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe; Makah Tribe; and Law and Justice.
SOLID WASTE ADVISORY COMMITTEE (6)
This committee is comprised of representatives of each of the incorporated cities, the waste industry, tribal councils, Clallam County, state and federal agencies, private industry, and at-large. The committee assists in the implementation of programs and policies concerning solid waste handling and disposal, and reviews and comments on proposed changes to the Comprehensive Solid Waste Management Plan. There are openings for representatives of At-large Alternate; Solid Waste Industry (West Waste Recycling); Solid Waste Industry (West Waste Recycling) Alternate; City of Sequim Alternate; City of Forks Alternate; and Business Community Alternate.
TRAILS ADVISORY COMMITTEE (5)
Makes recommendations to the Board and other appointed bodies of Clallam County government regarding non-motorized transportation and trail-related issues. There are openings for representatives of Olympic National Park; Large Private Forest Company; City of Sequim; Commercial Trail Business; and Off-Road Motorized User Groups.
