Historic Bear Creek Property Gets New Life Under Local Owners

A familiar landmark along U.S. Highway 101 is entering a new chapter as Jason and Nicole Earls breathe new life into the historic Bear Creek Cabins and RV, transforming the long-standing property while honoring its deep family roots.
Located at 205912 U.S. Highway 101, just a few miles west of Beaver, the property has long served travelers exploring the Olympic Peninsula. Today, the Earls are working to restore the cabins and RV park into a welcoming basecamp for visitors headed to Olympic National Park and the region’s Pacific Coast beaches.
For Jason Earls, the project is more than a business venture; it’s a homecoming.
“When we were growing up in the Bear Creek area, our families were uniquely connected to this property,” the couple shared. Jason’s grandparents managed the cabins and RV park during his elementary school years, and he spent countless hours there as a child. One of the first major steps in the renovation was demolishing the aging single-wide trailer where many of those childhood memories were made.
The renovation has been extensive.
Just months ago, the property was filled with decades of accumulated debris. The couple hauled away a 30-yard dumpster of discarded materials, removed old furniture, water-damaged photographs, worn-out bed frames and outdated curtains while tackling long-overdue repairs.
“It helps to look back and remember how far we’ve come,” they said. “The work we have left feels overwhelming, but we couldn’t have gotten this far without this community.”
The renovated cabins combine rustic charm with modern comforts, offering premium bedding, private bathrooms and a peaceful setting surrounded by the forests of the Pacific Northwest. The RV park provides both partial and full hook-up sites with easy access directly off Highway 101, making it especially convenient for campers and road trippers.
The owners are also extending a welcome to bicycle tourists, offering cyclists half-price tent camping in available RV sites along the tree line.
While the cabins and RV sites are now welcoming guests, one historic feature of the property will have to wait. The former restaurant is expected to remain closed for another four to five years while the owners raise the funding needed for what they describe as a major renovation project.
Throughout the restoration, the Earls say they have been overwhelmed by the support of the West End community.
“We really want to thank all the businesses who have been so ready and willing to order supplies we’ve needed, hand out our business cards, send guests our way and help share the news that we are open,” they said. “We also want to thank all the local contractors who have given their time and energy to help us get projects and repairs completed.”
They hope residents will continue to follow their renovation journey through social media and help spread the word as more improvements are completed.
