17 Hours of Summer Fun- A West End weekend recap

Published 1:30 am Thursday, August 21, 2025

There is nothing like a 17 hour power outage in the summer to make you long for those 12 hour power outages in November through April …but seriously folks, our District 3 Clallam County PUD Commissioner Phyllis Bernard had been working to get Bonneville and the Forest Service together to do something about the situation. At this point I have not heard from Bonneville about what happened and Phyllis said she will update Wednesday at the West End Business meeting regarding what happened this time. I am sure it is not pleasant for local PUD or Bonneville crews to be called out for an all night event …but at least the rain was warmer than December.

Let’s talk about rain. On Friday/Saturday WSDOT alerts were coming in faster than the hiccups. Flooding, debris, closures, evacuations, ONP at the Hoh closed, and trees down. Thankfully it all was back to normalish by Sunday.

I meant to attend the Ian Maksin concert and pop in on the Hot August Nite event but …I slept through both.

I see graders are out today on the grinding/chip seal project. That five inches of rain really did a number on those ground up streets …on Sunday the pot holes had pot holes.

Until next time.
